The most recent branch of this successful franchise food offer opened in Burnley in August this year. As has been the case since the first flagship store, Tangent and PRDP were involved with the design and fit-out of the store layout, utilising the standard Pizza Time high quality, hygienic equipment, finishes and fittings. This store presented us with a new challenge as the site configuration did not easily lend itself to the standard layout. A shallow, double-fronted shop unit presented an opportunity to literally think outside the box. Fitting a diagonally positioned, elongated service desk enabled us to create a tapered customer queuing zone, which released space behind to accommodate the definitive large pizza assembly line that represents the fast-paced, live theatre element of the Pizza Time made-to-order production process. At peak times an additional queuing area can be opened, with a poseur shelf for customers awaiting take-away orders.
This longer than standard customer interface also allowed for more of the large, internal, brightly lit, ingredients bulkhead graphics that are a stock-in-trade element of the Pizza Time brand. To make the most of the shallow appearance of the double unit sign fascia we adapted the standard sign by dropping the pizza symbol below the fascia bottom edge, creating a dynamic break to this horizontal element of the shopfront. Bright white continuous LED lighting makes sure the store is visible from the adjacent busy thoroughfare.
The outlet is already proving a hit with the many students from the local University of Central Lancashire Burnley Campus and regular deliveries have been made to the Burnley fc ground. They are also a hit on social media.
